The Details:

I am primarily an on-site, natural light photographer, which means that I come to you! Your family may have a location that is a favorite or particularly meaningful to you where you would like your session to occur. I can also suggest locations as well if you want some ideas! However, I believe that the most important part of any family photo is to capture the moments of family interaction more than the background. You are the stars of the show!

In any location, lighting is the most important element! This means that sunset (or sunrise) hours are generally the best time to book a session, and vary by the season. However, if you just know that your kiddo(s) would be happier campers at a different time of day, we can work together to choose a location with shade and try to avoid harsh lighting and shadows.

(My Saturday sessions are limited and fill up quickly, so I would suggest beginning by finding a weekday that may work for us.)

Booking:

To book a family session, simply send me a contact form! We will work together to find a day and time that works in our schedules and with nature’s lighting for the best possible session.

A $200 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking and will be applied toward your session total. I will also ask you to complete a signed contract and information format the time of booking in order to secure your session.

What to Expect:

Generally, family sessions last 45-60 minutes. We like to keep the kiddos at their best, and I find that sessions that go beyond an hour are not ideal for your little one’s attention span and temperament.

In your family session, I work to capture genuine interactions and authentic expressions. I will take a variety of photos of your kid(s) individually, together, and with mom and dad.

As you prepare your wardrobe for the session, I have a few suggestions. My first recommendation would be to choose outfits that coordinate rather than match. I find that when families wear matching outfits, they tend to blend together and the photos lack depth and interest. Choose coordinating colors and textures, but do your best to avoid neon or bright primary colors as they tend not photograph well against skin tones. You can do this by building around one of your own favorite pieces or a piece you know your kid loves. Try to keep comfort, location, and season in mind. I am here to help if you have any questions during your planning.
