What a way to celebrate the Fall season! The F Family was such a blast to photograph, and the park was starting to change colors, which is exciting to see here in the Bay Area. Getting to know so many different families is one of my favorite parts of this job, and it was such a joy to be around this family’s playful loving energy at our photo session. These kiddos love their mommy and each other to pieces! (I hope my future kids get along this well someday!) Usually, when there is a kid under the age of 5, we move fast to try to avoid burn out. And 4-year old little Scotty hung in there for the full 50 minute session thanks to his awesome siblings (and a few candy brides from mom)! Their photos keep making me smile!

I began doing Senior Portraits two years ago and I absolutely love it! As a high school teacher and photographer, Senior Portraits combine my two loves: teenagers and photography! I find that Senior Portraits are such an awesome opportunity for teens to showcase and celebrate their individuality and their sense of who they are. And Emma is such a beautiful soul. Her loving, artistic, and sophisticated spirit shines through her photos at Sutro Baths, one of my favorite places to shoot portraits. I love the way photographing seniors can bring out a confidence and character that is sometimes just below the surface.  emmasenior1 emmasenior2 emmasenior3

This was such a special maternity session! Maribel and Brian chose to revisit Stow Lake and Pioneer Cabin in Golden Gate Park where they had first taken their engagement photos. I thought this was such a lovely way to mark this new chapter in their lives and happily remember their engagement. It was a beautiful evening session and an even more beautiful couple to mark the coming of Fall and their baby girl. Congratulations Maribel and Brian!

Meet three week old Mary and her proud new parents! Mary was happiest cuddling up to her mom and dad, and I loved snapping photos of her many different ways of snuggling up. The most precious thing about lifestyle sessions with newborns is being able to capture photos that illustrate those authentic little moments and newborn personalities that change so quickly.

My day spent photographing the O family perfectly embodies why I love “A Day in the Life” sessions. I got to spend the entire afternoon with them before our photo shoot, capturing everything from getting ready to snack time to mid-afternoon meltdowns. These are the crazy, hectic, everyday moments that soon enough won’t become everyday anymore. And while I love how special a good family portrait is, it is these “in-between” moments that capture real, authentic life.

My day with the O family was hectic as mom and dad chased around their toddler son and twin girls. No wonder mom is a fitness coach – I could hardly keep up with them! Once it was time to go outside and take the posed family photos, it was a juggling act to get all the kiddos smiling let alone all looking in the same direction. We even had a few run aways! But what I love most about this photo session is that it is real. Twenty years from on, mom and dad will look back at these photos and say, “oh yes, that was so us!”
